Inspiration Behind the Painting:

When I first saw Klimt’s Woman in Gold, I was completely drawn to it.
It’s a famous painting by Austrian artist Gustav Klimt, featuring Adele Bloch-Bauer, an Austrian aristocrat.

What caught my eye was the incredible use of gold leaf, the gold, yellow, orange and brown tones create this beautiful richness.
When I designed this saree, I wanted to capture that richness, but I didn’t want the entire saree to be in warm tones.

So I chose a deep royal blue for the body.
That contrast between the royal blue and the gold-inspired pallu is exactly what I wanted and I absolutely love how it turned out.
