Painted Pallu Sarees
Introducing our new collection - The Painted Pallu. Five world-famous paintings by four renowned painters, brought alive as gorgeous digital prints on pure Bishnupuri silk sarees. Meet the four artists behind our Painted Pallu collection! Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Gustav Klimt and Henri Matisse. Each artist has a distinctive style, a unique colour palette and a charm of their own. And that’s what makes each saree in this collection so special!
When I first saw Klimt’s Woman in Gold, I was completely drawn to it.
It’s a famous painting by Austrian artist Gustav Klimt, featuring Adele Bloch-Bauer, an Austrian aristocrat.
What caught my eye was the incredible use of gold leaf, the gold, yellow, orange and brown tones create this beautiful richness.
When I designed this saree, I wanted to capture that richness, but I didn’t want the entire saree to be in warm tones.
So I chose a deep royal blue for the body.
That contrast between the royal blue and the gold-inspired pallu is exactly what I wanted and I absolutely love how it turned out.

Henri Matisse was a French painter and the leading artist of a movement called Fauvism.
Fauvism was all about using bold, bright colours, and Matisse really loved playing with colour.
During his visit to Tangier, he became fascinated by goldfish. And that fascination inspired him to create an entire series of paintings around them.
In this particular painting, you can see the goldfish in his own garden and fish tank, surrounded by these beautiful, vibrant colours.
And when I was designing this saree, I wanted to bring out those colours without taking away from the painting.
So, I chose this beautiful olive green for the body of the saree.
And look at the result!
Claude Monet was one of the founders of Impressionism, and his garden at Giverny was a huge source of inspiration for his paintings.
He created this beautiful pond filled with water lilies, with a lovely Japanese-inspired arched bridge running across it.
What I love about this painting is the play of colours and the darker tones.
So, when I designed this saree, I chose a soft pearl pink for the body to create a beautiful contrast. And I carried the painting-inspired design along the border of the saree.
I absolutely love how the colours come together!
Café Terrace at Night is one of Vincent van Gogh’s most iconic paintings.
He painted this beautiful night scene in Arles, a small town in southern France.
What I find fascinating is his use of colours, yellow ochre, orange, blue and green. And here’s the surprising part: he didn’t use black to create this night scene!
So, when I designed this saree, I did the opposite. I chose black for the body to create a striking contrast with the colourful pallu.
And look at how beautifully it has turned out!
